Threat intelligence helps a SOC prioritize alerts, recognize attacker tactics, and improve detections with real-world context. I would use it to enrich investigations and sharpen monitoring, not as a substitute for internal telemetry. Good intelligence is only valuable when it changes operations.

I would first define suspicious beaconing as repeated network connections at regular intervals to a remote host. Then I would look for patterns in endpoint logs or process telemetry that indicate periodic communication, unusual destinations, or repeated failed connections. A strong answer would emphasize detection logic, false positives, and validation against benign scheduled traffic.

I would disable or reset the affected credentials, check for abnormal sign-ins, and look for privilege escalation or lateral movement. Then I would identify how the credentials were exposed and strengthen controls such as MFA, conditional access, and secret storage. The goal is to stop active use and reduce the chance of recurrence.

I would focus on least privilege, strong authentication, role design, lifecycle management, and auditability. At enterprise scale, identity becomes the control plane for most security decisions, so access must be tightly governed and continuously reviewed. Good IAM design reduces both misuse and administrative drift.

I would examine which systems can talk to each other, whether there are unnecessary trust relationships, and how traffic is filtered between tiers. Then I would test whether a compromise in one segment would be contained or could move laterally. Segmentation is effective only if it actually limits blast radius in practice.
