I would design with least privilege, clear trust boundaries, secure defaults, and defensive error handling. Security should be part of the architecture from the start because retrofitting it later is slower and less reliable. Good design makes the right behavior easy and the dangerous path hard.

I would keep secrets out of source code, use a dedicated secret store, limit access, and rotate credentials on a schedule. I would also watch for leakage in logs, debug output, and build pipelines because secrets often escape through operational mistakes. The goal is to reduce both exposure and reuse.

I would review the threat model, confirm the critical controls, test likely abuse cases, and make sure monitoring and rollback are ready. Then I would check whether the service handles sensitive data appropriately and whether the failure modes are acceptable. Launch readiness is about more than feature completeness.

I would expect clear ownership, fast triage, good logging, and a repeatable process for containment and recovery. Mature response also means learning from incidents so the same pattern is less likely to happen again. The best teams treat response as a capability, not a one-time event.

I would inspect segmentation, firewall rules, exposed services, egress paths, and whether sensitive systems are isolated properly. Then I would check whether the network design actually limits lateral movement and unauthorized access. The important thing is that the controls reflect real trust boundaries, not just diagrams.
